“During the summer months when children are not restricted to school discipline and are less inhibited by their secular studies, it is an excellent time to give them every opportunity to attend an overnight camp, or at least a day camp, which is administered by a staff who treasure the Torah-true way of life, and that together with their regular recreational activities time be set aside each day for Jewish educational study and instruction. The Lubavitcher Rebbe spoke greatly about the importance of sending children to Jewish summer camps: Our organization has been doing this for nearly 30 years, & we have dozens & dozens of Yiddishe boys & girls of various different levels of religous observance to amazing Jewish summer camps. Unfortunately, not all of these boys & girls' parents are able to afford the high cost of camp, and as a result, these beautiful Yiddishe Neshamas will end up either staying home in an unstructured environment the whole summer, or Rachmana Litzlan going to a goyishe camp instead.Īt Keren Yeled V'Yalda, (part of the National Committee for the Furtherance Jewish Education) our goal is to make sure these children's parents receive the necessary funds to send them to structured Jewish camps, such as Gan Israel, Camp Emunah, Pardes Chana, Camp Chaya, Chayolei, Yeshiva Kayitz Kingston, YSP, & many more.
